“PLAYER OF THE WEEK”

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – After a pair of standout performances in her final two home games of her career, Layla Scott was chosen the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Player of the Week for Week 15 on Monday afternoon. It is the seventh time this season she has received the award. Tuesday, she added National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Player of the Week to her list of accolades this season.

Scott helped lead No. 1 Johnson County to a pair of double-digit conference victories last week and secure the program's sixth straight KJCCC Division II title and 13th championship overall.

The sophomore All-America guard finished with 15 points, five rebounds and three assists in an 81-44 mid-week win over Fort Scott. In Saturday's 95-53 victor over Neosho County on Sophomore Day, Scott headlined the victory, securing just the ninth triple-double in program history - and the first of her career - with an impressive line of 27 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists. Scott drained five 3-point baskets among her eight total field goals and went 6-for-6 from the free throw line. She now has 217 career 3-pointers, just one shy of tying Taylor Stahly of Hutchinson for second-most in KJCCC history.  She also finished with five steals.

Scott leads the conference scoring average (17.6), total points (511), 3-point baskets (102), 3-point field goal percentage (41.1%), assists (116) and ranks second in steals (66) and blocked shots (17).
