Cavaliers stay perfect at 28-0 with 81-44 victory over Fort Scott

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 1-ranked Johnson County Community College women's basketball team jumped out to an 18-4 lead in the opening quarter against Fort Scott and extended the advantage in each of the next three periods to secure an 81-44 victory. The win marks the Cavaliers' 20th consecutive double-digit victory and their 26th of the season.

With the victory, Johnson County improves to 28-0 and clinches the Kansas Jayhawk Division II regular season title – its sixth in a row and 13th overall.

Mia Adams led all scorers with 16 points. The freshman forward shot 7-of-13 from the field and knocked down two 3-pointers.

Sophomore Layla Scott followed with 15 points. The All-America guard increased her career 3-point total to 212, moving just six shy of the second-most made in conference history. Scott also added five rebounds and three assists.

Starting guards Anonda Ford and Kara Stricklin also reached double figures, each scoring 10 points. Forward Makenna Jennings controlled the glass with 13 rebounds, matching her season high.

The Cavaliers' bench provided key contributions, with Jade Warren scoring nine points, Skyte Wilson adding eight, and Layla Barnes finishing with five points and seven rebounds.

Ashlee Poolaw led Fort Scott with 11 points, while Mariyah Moss added 10.

Johnson County will host its final regular-season game against Neosho County on Saturday, February 21. Opening tip is scheduled for 2 p.m.
