OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 1-ranked Johnson County Community College women's basketball team registered its 19th double-digit victory on the season Wednesday night, defeating Labette Community College 94-63 to improve to 21-0 overall.
The win extended the Cavaliers' regular season winning streak to 84 games and their conference winning streak to 32 in a row.
Freshman Mia Adams led Johnson County with a game-high 22 points off the bench, connecting on 10-of-17 shots from the field and a pair of free throws. She also pulled down five rebounds.
Freshman Anonda Ford recorded her fifth double-double of the season, finishing with 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting and 10 rebounds.
Sophomore Layla Scott added 15 points, knocking down three more 3-point baskets to extend her career record. She also tallied nine rebounds, four assists and three steals. Scott now has 196 made 3-pointers over her two seasons and is just four away from becoming the fifth player in Kansas Jayhawk Conference history to reach 200 career 3-point field goals.
Sophomore Kara Stricklin also scored in double figures with 11 points, while freshman Skyte Wilson added eight points off the bench.
Ahmani Klabunde led Labette with 18 points.
Johnson County travels to Fort Scott Community College to face the Greyhounds i on Saturday with a 1 p.m. tipoff.
