No. 1 Cavaliers Dominate JCCC Classic With Back-to-Back Blowout Victories

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 1-ranked Johnson County Community College women's basketball continued its dominant start to the 2025-26 season, cruising to back-to-back routs of Iowa Lakes and Southwestern at the JCCC Classic over the weekend.

The Cavaliers opened the event with a commanding 70-30 win over Iowa Lakes on Friday, seizing control early with a 20-1 first-quarter burst. Sophomore All-America guard Layla Scott led all scorers with 22 points, adding six assists, four steals, three blocks and a rebound while hitting 5-of-8 from 3-point range.

Freshman guard Hayden Snodgrass matched her career's second-highest scoring effort with 11 points off the bench, while freshman forward Mia Adams contributed 10. Freshman guard Anonda Ford pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds, and freshman guard Jade Warren added eight points.

JCCC spread the scoring even more in Saturday's 99-28 blowout of Southwestern, with six players reaching double figures. Adams and freshman guard Korrie Holcer paced the attack with 16 points apiece. Adams went 6-of-14 from the field with two threes, while Holcer hit 6-of-12, including four from deep.

Sophomore guard Kara Stricklin, Ford and Warren each chipped in 13 points. Stricklin also tallied six assists, Ford grabbed seven rebounds and Warren added two rebounds, two assists and two steals. Scott rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points, five rebounds and two assists in just 22 minutes.

The Cavaliers will host another four-team classic this weekend, welcoming Saint Mary University, North Central Missouri and Des Moines Area. JCCC faces Saint Mary JV on Friday at 5:30 p.m., followed by a Saturday matchup with North Central Missouri at 2 p.m.
