Scott named KJCCC D-II Player of the Week for week 8

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College sophomore Layla Scott was tabbed the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week for week eight after leading the No 1-ranked Cavaliers to a dominant 110-38 victory over Treasure Valley Community College last week, keeping the Cavaliers record perfect at 16-0. This is the third time she has been selected.

The All-America guard finished with 25 points, six rebounds, six assists and six steals. The sophomore was highly efficient, shooting 8-of-11 from the floor, including five 3-pointers, and knocking down all four of her free throw attempts.

At the halfway point of the season, Scott leads the KJCCC D-II in scoring (17.5), 3-point baskets (59), assists (62) and free throw percentage (.860).

For her career on JCCC's 3-point chart she has moved in the No. 4 spot with 174 made baskets. She needs only 16 more to become the program's all-time leader.
