WICHITA, Kan. – Johnson County's championship formula showed up in full force Sunday afternoon.
Behind a historic power display and dominant pitching, the Cavaliers defeated Kansas City Kansas 9-2 to capture the Region 6/Plains District Championship at Eck Stadium. The title marks the fourth consecutive year Johnson County has claimed the crown and the sixth championship in program history.
With the win, JCCC punches its ticket to the NJCAA Division I World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.
JCCC left little doubt from the outset.
The Cavaliers struck early, plating two runs in the first inning before adding another in the second to seize immediate control. By the middle innings, the offense had fully erupted—highlighted by a remarkable barrage of five home runs that powered Johnson County to nine runs on 15 hits.
Leading the charge was Logan Groh, who delivered a perfect day at the plate with four hits, two runs scored, and two RBIs, including one of the Cavaliers' long balls. Colin Coonradt added a home run and drove in a game-high three runs, while Briggs Roe and Isaac Pamaran also went deep. Pamaran was especially electric, launching two home runs and finishing with three hits, two runs, and two RBIs in the title-clinching performance.
The five-homer outburst added another milestone to an already record-breaking season, pushing Johnson County's single-season home run total to a staggering 204, the most ever in college baseball history.
While the offense delivered fireworks, JCCC's pitching staff controlled the game throughout. Starter Liam Roche set the tone, allowing just one run on four hits over five innings to earn the win. Ashton Nance followed with four strong innings of relief, surrendering just one run while striking out five to secure the victory.
Kansas City Kansas managed eight hits but struggled to generate consistent scoring chances. The Blue Devils' only extra-base impact came on a solo home run by Trevor McGraw, while Reid Oakley added an RBI.
Johnson County steadily built its lead, scoring in five different innings, including a four-run fifth that effectively broke the game open. By the time the final out was recorded, the Cavaliers had once again asserted their dominance atop the region.
Four Cavalier players were named to the All-Tournament team, including Tournament MVP Boson Bruce, who hit .438 at the plate across the nine games with four home runs, 11 runs and 16 driven in, while coach Eric Horner was named Coach of the Tournament. Also named to the All-Tournament team from JCCC were Ryan Bradford, Braydon Giesler and Lance Alexander.
With the victory, JCCC improves to 62-3 on the season and continues a remarkable run of excellence, adding another chapter to a dynasty that shows no signs of slowing down.
Four straight titles. Six in program history. And now, another championship performance powered by one of the most prolific offenses in college baseball.
