JCCC sweeps KJCCC baseball honors for week 6

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Sweeping their opening Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference East Division series of the season, the Johnson County Community College baseball team has swept the KJCCC Baseball East Division Player of the Week awards for week six with Colin Coonradt and Liam Roche bringing home this week's honors.  

Coonradt helped the number two-ranked Cavaliers to their sixth straight series sweep, hitting .727 (8-for-11) with five home runs, five walks, nine runs scored, and eight RBI in JCCC's conference opening series. The sophomore opened the series with two home runs and three RBI in an 8-0 win and followed with another two-homer, three RBI effort in a 22-2 romp in game two. Back at JCCC on Saturday, Coonradt hit his fifth homer in three games and drove in two in a 10-0 victory. For the season, Coonradt is tied for first in the KJCCC in home runs (11), second in extra-base hits (19) and RBI (24), third in batting average (.453) and doubles (7), and fifth in runs scored (27). 

Roache allowed just two baserunners with a single and a walk while striking out a season-high 12 batters in an 8- 0 shutout win at Highland last week. With the victory, the freshman left-hander improved to 4-0 on the season. Roche currently leads the KJCCC with 44 strikeouts and ranks eighth in NJCAA Division 1 baseball.
