Bradford and Nance earn week four KJCCC East Jayhawk Players of the Week honors

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. –  For the second time this season, Johnson County Community College as swept the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference East Division Baseball awards as Ryan Bradford and Ashton Nance picked up the week four honors. This the second time Bradford has been selected.

Bradford was a one-man wrecking crew in a four-game series sweep over Pratt for the number four-ranked Johnson County baseball team. The freshman from Imperial, Missouri hit .667 (nine-for-16) with three doubles, five home runs, seven runs scored, and nine runs driven in. In the opening game of the series, Bradford had a single, double, and home run, scored three times, and drove in three to lead the Cavaliers to a 10-7 win. He followed with a monster game, ripping two doubles and two home runs, scoring twice, and driving in three to help the Cavaliers pull out a 12-11 win. In the series final, Bradford belted two more homers and drove in three in a 12-0 blowout over the Beavers. Through 16 games, Bradford is hitting at a .508 clip (30-for-59) with 11 doubles, two triples, nine homers, 28 runs scored, and 33 RBI.

Nance earned a victory over Pratt in the final game of a four-game series against the Beavers. The freshman right-hander allowed just one hit across five shutout innings, striking out six batters in a 12-0 victory. With the win, Nance improved to 4-0 on the season and has 14 strikeouts in 15 innings pitched for the number four-ranked Cavaliers.

Johnson County is off to a tremendous start to its 2026.  The Cavaliers enter their four-game series against Iowa Western Friday afternoon riding an 11-game winning streak and stand 15-1 overall, tying the second-best start t through 16 games in program history.

Yesterday, JCCC moved up eight spots to crack the Top-5 at No. 4. Chipola College (19-1) sit at the top, followed by Walters State Community College (14-2) and Midland College (12-0).
