OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College Jeremy Rader was named the 2023 ABCA/Rawlings NJCAA Division I Gold Glove Award® winner at third base as announced recently by the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings Sports Goods Company, Inc.
Rader becomes just the second Cavalier player in program history to receive the prestigious Gold Glove Award® joining former All-American shortstop Doug Otto who received the award back in the 2008 season. Earlier this season he was the recipient of the Kansas Jayhawk Conference/Region 6 Gold Glove Award® team and was selected All-KJCCC second-team and named to the NJCAA Plains District All-Tournament Team.
The sophomore from Springfield, Mo., had a tremendous season at third base by fielding at a .973 clip. In 58 games, Rader recorded 39 putouts, assisted making 107 out and only made four errors.
Rader was also extremely valuable at the plate batting .392 (69-for-176) with 11 doubles, a triple, eight home runs, 53 runs and 53 runs driven in while helping lead the Cavaliers to a program record 56-10 mark, conference and district championships and berth to the NJCAA JUCO World Series.
Rader produced 20 multiple-hit and 12 multiple-RBI games in 2023 and closed out his career with 33 multi-hit and 22 multi-RBI games. He batted .353 for his career (119-for-337) with 23 doubles, four triples, 13 home runs, 108 runs and 95 RBI. He ranks tied for 31st in career hits, tied for 16th in RBI, tied for 12th in walks (60), tied for 17th in runs, tied for 23rd in multi-hit games and tied for 14th in multi-RBI games.
