Cavaliers take season series with Coffeyville, take on Cowley next

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – It all comes down to the final series of the season.  Johnson County can clinch the KJCCC baseball title with a series win over Cowley this Thursday and Saturday. Both teams stand 24-4 in conference play. 

The Cavaliers recently won the season series against Coffeyville. The Ravens took the first game 9-6, but Johnson County rebounded with wins of 16-2, 10-8 and 13-9, and now stand 41-5 overall on the season. 

Johnson County got some key offensive production from freshman infielder Wyatt Morgan, and freshmen outfielders Jackson Galloway and Quinton Hall

Morgan hit .462 (6-for-13) with a double a home run, five runs and five driven in. Galloway hit .333 (5-for-15) with two doubles, a home run, two runs scored and eight RBI, and Hall hit .429 (6-for-14) with two doubles, six runs scored and nine driven in. 

On the bump, freshman right-hander Danny Trehey picked up two more saves to up his total to a league-leading nine on the season. He struck out eight batters in his 3.2 innings of relief. His nine total saves are the third most in team history, and just three shy of the season record. 

In the 16-2 win in second game, freshman left-hander Max Chapman allowed just two runs, one earned, and struck out 10 Ravens to earn his fourth win of the season.
