Assistant Volleyball Coach
Third Season at JCCC

Garrett Case enters his third season as assistant volleyball coach at Johnson County Community College, bringing extensive experience across the NJCAA, NAIA and NCAA Division I levels.

In his first season with the Lady Cavaliers, Johnson County opened the year ranked No. 3 in the NJCAA Division II preseason poll, climbed to No. 2 in the first regular‑season rankings, and remained in the top three for seven consecutive polls before concluding the season ranked 10th. JCCC captured the Region 6/District championship and advanced to the NJCAA Division II National Championship match, finishing as national runner‑up with a 30‑7 record. Sophomore outside hitter Bella Hedke earned NJCAA second‑team All‑America honors, while she and Chloe Carlgen, Tori Valentin, Kennedy Smalley and Taylin Stallbaumer were All‑Kansas Jayhawk Conference Division II selections. Tori Valentine and Carlie Martin also earned spots on the NJCAA D‑II National All‑Tournament Team.

The Cavaliers followed with another strong campaign in 2025, posting a 25‑9 record, earning a No. 6 final national ranking, winning the Region 6/District championship, and returning to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. Ava Esser capped a standout freshman season by earning NJCAA Division II first‑team All‑America honors and third‑team AVCA All‑America recognition, while also earning a spot on the NJCAA D-II National All-Tournament Team.  JCCC also placed five athletes on the All‑Kansas Jayhawk Conference Division II teams. Esser was a first team selection, while Campbell Chabot and Carlie Martin received second team recognition. Avery Riggenberg and Lauren Roediger rounded out the honors with third team selections.

Off the court, JCCC excelled academically under Case’s guidance. During the 2024 and 2025 fall semesters, 25 of 28 players earned GPAs of 3.0 or higher. Following the spring semester of 2025, six student‑athletes earned NJCAA Academic honors with GPAs of at least 3.6, including three perfect 4.0 GPAs. Kennedy Smalley was named CSC Academic All‑District® College Division At‑Large for the 2024‑25 academic year.

Case joined JCCC after serving on staff at Central Methodist University from 2018‑22 and again in 2023. During that span, the Eagles compiled a 133‑39 overall record and made NAIA National Tournament appearances in every season, including the program’s first in 2018. Case was promoted to Associate Head Coach in 2020 and earned Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year and Heart Conference Assistant Coach of the Year honors in 2021 after CMU posted a 29‑9 record and advanced to its fourth straight NAIA National Tournament. He coached eight NAIA All‑Americans, 35 HAAC All‑Conference selections, and multiple conference Players of the Year.

In December 2021, Case was named head coach at William Woods University, where he coached the AMC Defender of the Year and six All‑Conference selections during his tenure.

Prior to Central Methodist, Case spent the 2017 season as assistant coach at Seward County Community College, helping the Saints to a 33‑2 record, the Western Jayhawk Conference championship, and a No. 3 national ranking, while coaching five All‑Region performers and one First‑Team All‑American.

Case also gained NCAA Division I experience at Missouri State University, serving three seasons as team manager before becoming a volunteer assistant in 2016. His responsibilities included statistical analysis, video breakdown, practice planning and camp instruction.

At the club level, Case has coached for nine seasons with 417 Juniors (Columbia), leading teams to Girls Junior National Championship appearances in 2017 and 2023, and serving as Director of Player Development, overseeing positional training across the club.

Case earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a minor in Biomedical Sciences from Missouri State University in 2016.
