OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – For the first time in program history, the Johnson County Community College women's soccer team has been ranked No. 1 in the nation. Both the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and United Soccer Coaches (USC) placed the Cavaliers atop their respective Division II polls this week.

After being ranked number two in the Division 2 women's soccer preseason poll as well as the first six polls of the regular season, Johnson County moves up to take over the top spot as the Cavaliers are the only NJCAA Division 2 women's soccer team that has yet to be defeated or have a game end in a tie. JCCC is 15-0-0 this season with three matches remaining in the regular season and has won 11 of its 15 matches by shutout.

In the latest NJCAA poll, JCCC swapped positions with Northwest Mississippi Community College, while in the USC rankings, the Cavaliers flipped with Peninsula College to take over the top spot.

Now in its third season competing at the NJCAA Division II level, Johnson County has appeared in all 28 national polls—the longest consecutive stretch in program history. The Cavaliers have been ranked in the top 10 in 26 of those 28 polls (93 percent) and in the top five in 18 (64 percent).

"This recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and consistency our players have shown since day one," said JCCC head coach Jim Schwab. "They've embraced the challenge of getting better every day, and it's rewarding to see that effort pay off. But our focus remains on finishing the season strong and preparing for postseason play."
