OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – After earning her third consecutive Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division II Goalkeeper of the Week award on Tuesday, Johnson County Community College sophomore Avery Young was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Goalkeeper of the Week.
Young was outstanding between the posts, stopping all 15 shots she faced across the two matches last weekend in Florida to help JCCC shut out Pensacola State 3-0 and Mississippi Gulf Coast 1-0. Young recorded 13 saves against Mississippi Gulf Coast, a total that ties for the eighth-most in a single match in program history.
For the season Young stands 5-0-0 with two full shutouts , two shared shutoust and has allowed just one goal. She leads KJCCC D-II keepers in wins (5), goals against average (0.23), saves (30) and save percentage (.968).
