OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – For the third consecutive week, Avery Young was named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, announced Tuesday morning. Bayli Benson of Kansas City Kansas Community College was the Offensive Player of the Week.
Young was outstanding between the posts for Johnson County Community College, stopping all 15 shots she faced across the two matches last weekend in Florida, helping JCCC shutout out Pensacola State 3-0 and Mississippi Gulf Coast 1-0. She recorded 13 saves against Mississippi Gulf Coast, a total that ties for the eighth-most in a single match in program history.
For the season Young stands 4-0-0 with two full shutouts , one shared shutout and has allowed just one goal. She leads KJCCC D-II keepers in wins (4), goals against average (0.28), saves (28) and save percentage (.966).
