DANVILLE, Ill. — In a tightly contested matchup that featured multiple lead changes and clutch moments down the stretch, Johnson County Community College edged Schoolcraft College 75-73 in the consolation semifinals on Friday.

The game lived up to its billing as a back-and-forth battle, with nine ties and nine lead changes throughout. Neither team was able to create much separation until late in the second half, when the Cavaliers built their largest lead of the game at 10 points early in the period.

Schoolcraft responded with a late surge, trimming the deficit and setting up a dramatic finish. The contest came down to the final seconds, as JCCC forward Tavian Cruse knocked down the game-winning field goal with just two seconds remaining to secure the victory. Cruse recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Aidan Wing led the Cavaliers with 15 points, converting efficiently at the free throw line going 6-for-6 and contributing eight rebounds. Gavin Harvey added 12 points and a team-high seven assists.

Trey Fulcher chipped in 10 points, and the Cavaliers received key contributions off the bench, including 11 points from Avian Webb. Joey Robinson added nine points on 3-of-4 from the 3-point line.

Schoolcraft was paced by Rael Cochran, who poured in a game-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting, while Jeremiah Caffey added 13 points and Booker Washington contributed eight.

Johnson County shot 44.1 percent from the field and was strong at the free throw line, converting 15-of-17 attempts. That efficiency proved to be the difference in a game where every possession mattered.

With the win, the Cavaliers advance in the consolation bracket final, showing resilience and poise in a pressure-filled finish.
