JCCC’s starting five named All-KJCCC Division II

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – A historic run through the 2025-26 season completing the first undefeated regular season in program history has now turned into postseason recognition for the Johnson County Community College men's basketball team. All five Cavaliers starters were named as All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Division II performers announced by the conference office Monday. In addition, head coach Rand Chappell was named the KJCCC D-II Coach of the Year. This is the third consecutive year he has won the award and fourth time his six seasons as JCCC's head coach.

Tavia Cruse – First-Team All-Conference, Player of the Year
Tavian Cruse becomes the sixth player in the history of JCCC's men's basketball program to be selected as the Conference Player of the Year. Cruse has been a dominant force this season. He is the only player in the conference to average double figures in both scoring (13.3) and rebounding (10.4). Earlier this season, Cruse set the career record for most double-doubles with 31. He currently sits with 32 career double-doubles with 17 double-doubles this year, just two shy of the JCCC season mark. His 10.8 rebound average is tops in the conference and tied for eighth nationally. He also ranks second in KJCCC D-II in field goal percentage (55.6) is 10th in scoring. Over the course of the campaign, Cruse has been named the KJCCC D-II Player of the Week three times, tying for most this season. His first selection in week five also earned him selection as the NJCAA Division II Player of the Week. He has scored in double figures 25 times this season and topped double-digits in rebounds 18 times with a high of 19 in a win over Highland in early February. Cruse was also an all-conference and all-region selection last season, earning second-team honors.

Gavin Harvey – First-Team All-Conference
The freshman of the Year and first-team selection last season, Gavin Harvey becomes just the fifth player in the program history be selected first-team all-conference as a freshman and sophomore, joining Deon Kayhill (1970-71, 1971-72), Rudy Liggins (1972-73, 1973-74), Jayland Whitehead (2020-21, 2021-22) and Tymer Jackson (2020-21, 2021-22).  This season Harvey is averaging 11.2 points, 5.4 assists and 2.8 rebounds. He leads the conference in total assists (161) and assists per game. He also has made 38 3-point baskets, second on the team, and is shooting 36.9 percent beyond the arc, sixth-best in the conference.  Harve has scored in double figures 19 times this season, with a high of 22 in a win at Metropolitan in late November. 

Aidan Wing – Second-Team All-Conference, Newcomer of the Year
Aidan Wing becomes just the second player to named Newcomer of the Year in team history, joining Tymer Jackson who was honored in 2021-22. Wing has been an integral piece for the Cavaliers, transferring back home after stints at two other D-I conference programs.  He leads the team in scoring and ranks fifth in the conference averaging 15.4 points per game. He also ranks fourth in the conference in field goal accuracy at 53.4 percent and second in free throw percentage at 79.2 percent. Wing leads JCCC with 26 games scoring in double figures and has scored 20 or more points on four occasions highlighted by a season-high 27 in a win at Southeast in early January. He also has three games with 10 or more rebounds. Twice during the season Wing was selected as the KJCCC D-II Player of the Week, earning the honor in week eight and 13.

Trey Fulcher – Third-Team All-Conference
Trey Fulcher is one of only five freshmen to make the 15-member conference team this year and has been a valuable piece to the Cavaliers starting lineup.  Fulcher is averaging 10.0 points and has reached double figures in 14 games. He in one of four Cavaliers making over 50 percent of their field goal attempts, hitting on 51.1 percent for ninth-best in the conference. In week 11, Fulcher turned an impressive effort to help power the No.3-ranked Cavaliers to a 105-74 romp at Labette. He poured in 22 points, connecting on 9-of-12 shots, and grabbed 10 rebounds to register his first collegiate double-double. That performance earned him the KJCCC D-II Player of the Week award.

Joey Robinson – Third-Team All-Conference
Joey Robinson embodies true sportsmanship in the way he competes, leads and carries himself each day. He plays with intensity and passion every time he hits the floor.  The sophomore guard is averaging 10.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. He ranks fifth in the conference in average rebounds per game and is sixth in the total with rebounds with 192. He has made 32 3-point baskets and his 2.7 assists per game average tie for eighth among KJCCC D-II players. Robinson has scored in double figures 16 times this season and topped double digits in rebounds five times.  He is second on the team with five double-doubles.
