OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 13-ranked Johnson County Community College softball team continued its strong play Friday afternoon, sweeping a doubleheader against Barton Community College in dominant fashion with a pair of run-rule victories.

The Cavaliers claimed a 9-1 win in the opener before closing out the day with an 8-0 victory, improving to 13-7 on the season.

In game one, Kennedy Glassford powered the offense with a standout performance, driving in four runs on four hits. She set the tone early with a solo home run in the first inning, added a two-run double in the second, and capped her day with an RBI single in the sixth.

Reagan Neitzel and Reese Pattison each added solo home runs and finished with two RBI apiece, while Mariah Herrera contributed with two hits and an RBI.

In the circle, Kyleigh Whitehurst delivered a solid outing, allowing just three hits and one run over six innings while striking out two to earn the win.

Glassford stayed hot in the second game, once again giving JCCC an early lead with a solo home run in the first inning. She finished 2-for-3, scored twice, and drove in three runs. Her all-around effort included a triple and run scored in the third, a sacrifice fly in the fourth, and an RBI groundout in the fifth.

Neitzel, Herrera, Jayla Green, and Katie Kolarick each added an RBI to support the offense.

Allaryce Millard was dominant in the circle, tossing a six-inning shutout. She scattered six hits and struck out two to secure the victory.

Johnson County returns to action Saturday, hosting Indian Hills in another doubleheader. It will mark the Cavaliers' third twin bill in as many days, with first pitch set for noon.
