Eight JCCC softball players earn all-conference recognition

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference announced its Division II, Conference A softball performers for the 2022 season, and eight members from Johnson County Community College were selected. Earning first-team accolades were sophomore outfielders Katie Enneking and Jordan Diehl, freshman second baseman Toree Hoobler, sophomore catcher Maddy Morrison and pitcher Jordan Harrison.

Sophomore utility player Kaylin Watkins, freshman DP Allee Brattin and sophomore third baseman Natalie Bruce earned second-team honors. 

Enneking was the only member of the team to play in and start all 46 games. She batted .342 (46-for-142) with eight doubles, three triples, three home runs, 29 runs scored and 40 driven in. She led the team in hits, runs, RBI, tied for the lead in triples and was second in doubles. She also led the team in multiple-hit games with 13 and multiple-RBI games with 13, including three games with four driven in. An all-conference and all-region/district selection last year, Enneking closed out her career with a .356 batting average (84-for-240) with 13 doubles, seven triples, seven homers, 66 runs and 73 RBI. She also had 26 multi-hit and 23 multi-RBI games. 

Diehl batted .252 (30-fo-119) with four doubles, three triples, two home runs, 24 runs scored and 13 driven in. She also drew 15 base-on-balls, which tied for second on the team. Diehl registered seven multiple-hit games highlighted by a four-hit game that included a double and a home run,  and three multiple-RBI games. 

Hoobler batted .300 (24-for-80) with a double, 23 runs scored and eight driven in. She also drew 12 free passes and led the team with a perfect 19-of-19 in stolen base attempts. Hoobler registered six multiple-hit games and two multiple-RBI games. 

Morrison, a transfer from Benedictine, batted .247 (19-for-77) with four doubles, 10 runs scored and 16 driven in. She recorded two multiple-hit and four multiple-RBI games. She was also solid in the field recording 130 putouts, 16 assists, six errors for a fielding percentage of .967.

Harrison was the Lady Cavaliers top hurler in 2022. She made 19 appearances, 18 as a starter. She completed 12 games, posted two shutout including a no-hitter. Harrison finished 10-7 with 111 strikeouts in 108.1 innings pitched with an ERA of 2.39. She held batters to a .183 average, best on the staff. Harrison led the staff in appearances, games started, complete games, victories, strikeouts and innings pitched. She also had three games of 10+ strikeouts, which also led the team. Three times during the campaign, Harrison was selected the KJCCC D-II Pitcher of the Week, earning the honor in weeks four, nine and 13. 

Harrison also batted .298 on the season (17-for-57) with six doubles, two home runs, five runs scored and 13 driven in. She registered two multiple-hit games and three multiple-RBI games.

An All-American selection last year, Watkins capped an amazing career batting .325 in 2022 (38-for-117) with nine doubles, seven home runs, 24 runs scored and 30 driven in. She recorded 10 multiple-hit games and nine multiple-RBI games. She led the team in home runs and tried for the lead in doubles. She was second in RBI, multi-hit and multi-RBI games, and tied for second in runs and walks. In the circle, Watkins made 14 appearances, 11 as a starter. She finished 7-3 with 61 strikeouts in 68.1 innings of work with an ERA of 2.36.  She completed seven games and two shutouts. Watkins was second on the staff in ERA, strikeouts, appearances, games started, games completed and tied for second in victories. 

For her career, Watkins Batted .382 (94-for-246) with 22 doubles, 22 home runs, 64 runs scored and 82 driven in.  Her 22 home runs are third most all-time, her 82 RBI rank 13th and her 44 career extra base hits rank tied for eighth. She had 28 multiple-hit games and 25 multiple-RBI games, which ranks second all-time at JCCC. 

Brattin batted .333 (18-for-54) with nine doubles, 15 runs scored and 15 drive in. She produced five multiple-hit games and five multiple-RBI games. She had a breakout series at Coffeyville on April 23. She opened the twin bill with two doubles, two runs and four RBI in an 8-0 win, and followed with three hits, including a double, three runs and three RBI in a 17-6 victory. That series started a season-long seven game hitting streak.  During that span Brattin hit a .600 clip (12-for-20) with seven doubles, 10 runs and 10 RBI. 

Bruce batted .275 (14-for-51) with four doubles, a home run, 12 runs scored and eight driven in. She registered three multiple-hit games and one multiple-RBI game. He first hit of the season was a solo homer to help the Lady Cavaliers pull out a 4-3 victory over Marshalltown in the season opener.
